Students participating in the 2019 Margaret River Alternate Leavers trip to East Timor braved the winter chill last weekend to host their wood raffle at Riverfresh IGA.
Funds raised from the raffle will be used to provide playground equipment for a primary school in the village of Triloka near Bacau on Timor-Leste.
"Once again we would like to express our sincere thanks to Lions Club of Cowaramup for the trailer load of wood, Riverfresh IGA for their space and the amazing community who bought tickets and helped us raise over $400 for playground equipment," said Margaret River Rotary's Lynne Warren.
Courtney Fulton from IGA drew the winning ticket belonging to Rasidah Dobbs, who was happy to replenish her dwindling firewood supplies.
The Leavers tour is coordinated and supported by the Margaret River Rotary and Lions Clubs and includes the delivery of school, sporting and medical supplies donated by local groups and businesses.
