Around 12.30pm a red Citroen was travelling on Kevill Road near Wallcliffe Road when it collided with a tree and caught on fire.
The sole occupant of the vehicle, understood to be an elderly Margaret River man, died at the scene.
Investigators would like to speak to anyone that saw the crash or the vehicle driving prior to the crash.
