A new exhibition from Margaret River artist Marelize Landman will be unveiled at the Margaret River HEART this week.
'Acquiescence and the Window of Tolerance' is a display of chalk and charcoal works on paper inspired by the environment of Margaret River, country, land, and sea.
Marelize uses chalk and charcoal as medium and soulful sheep as subject.
She said the sheep featured as a metaphor and expression of inner conflict and resolution; an embodiment of uncomfortable and intangible concepts of social and emotional construct.
"I am thrilled and honoured to show my works at the HEART," she said.
The artist studied Fine Arts at Stellenbosch, Fashion Design in Pretoria and worked as graphic and web-designer in Johannesburg. She arrived in Australia 12 years ago and has called Margaret River home for the past six years.
The City of Tswane, South Africa awarded her with a trophy for works on paper in 2010.
In 2016, she won a merit at the Annual Wanneroo Art Awards, and received first prize for drawing at the 2023 Margaret River District Agricultural Show.
"We look forward to displaying Marelize's beautiful and nuanced works at the Margaret River HEART," Arts Margaret River's Christopher Young said.
'Acquiescence and the Window of Tolerance' will be on display from February 12 to March 15, Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm in the Margaret River HEART Gallery.
A special exhibition launch will be held on Friday, February 16, from 6pm to 8pm. For info visit www.artsmargaretriver.com
