DUNSBOROUGH scored their most important win of the cricket season when they scraped home to beat top side Margaret River Hawks by one wicket in a low-scoring thriller at the Dunsborough Playing Fields on Saturday.

In the other Busselton-Margaret River Cricket Association A-Grade results, Vasse continued their run of form with an exciting win over St Marys at Bovell Park while Yallingup-Oddbods proved too strong for Cowaramup at Cowaramup Oval.
At Dunsborough, a sterling performance by opening bowler Harrison Sutherland was mostly responsible for Hawks being skittled for just 75 in 38 overs after the visitors chose to bat in benign conditions.
Sutherland grabbed 5-16 while skipper Chris Reagan captured 3-11 with his offbreaks for Dunsborough.
Seeking only 76 to win, Dunsborough made exceptionally hard work of the chase before finally getting themselves over the line by the barest margin.
It also took Dunsborough 39 overs to score the runs in agonisingly slow style, and anyone seeing the results could have been forgiven for thinking the pitch must have played a part in the low scoring. Apparently this was not the case.
Ben Cadd shone for the second week running for Dunsborough, hitting 43, more than half the runs for his side, while spinners Danny Weston (5-22) and Rumesh Silva (3-11) took the bulk of the wickets between them for Hawks.
A huge highlight arrived when Hawks fast bowler Mat Kent captured his 600th wicket for his club - a rare milestone in the annals of the BMRCA.
At Bovell Park, St Marys posted a defendable total of 170 in 50 overs against Vasse thanks to contributions led by Bunbury stranger Lucas Pedrochi (47).
Vasse looked to have the chase under control when they went to drinks at 2-73, only for Saints veteran skipper Peter Grygorcewicz to take three scalps to get his team right back in the game as Vasse descended to 6-113.
Chris Dendle (39) topped the score, assisted by import Jacques Allen who had a great allround game, as Vasse steadied and eventually snuck home with two wickets remaining.
Grygorcewicz and young Sean Zahra took three wickets each for St Marys.
At Cowaramup a fourth-wicket stand of 87 between Archer Coates (45) who displayed excellent footwork and timing and import Ben Cox (48) formed the centrepiece of the Bulls' total of 171 against Yallingup-Oddbods.
Christo Le Roux with 4-15 shone with the ball for YOBS, who got their chase under way with a match-deciding 99-run opening stand between Brendan Miller, who played some cracking shots in a knock of 86 off 85 balls with 9 fours and 4 sixes, and Chris Brook.
YOBS eventually reached the target in just the 36 th over for the loss of only three wickets.
In B-Grade cricket, St Marys turned the tables on Vasse at Bovell Park by winning in thrilling circumstances on the last possible ball of the game.
Vasse totalled 130 all out in 42 overs (Shaun Scaddan 54, Aaron Mattock 3-4 and Karl Clively 3-33) and Saints replied with 8-134 in exactly 45 overs (Aaron Mattock 43 not out).
At Dunsborough, Dunsborough dismissed Margaret River Hawks for 138 in 42 overs (Sam Joyce 43, Floyd Donnan 5-19) and got up by responding with 6-144 in just 26 overs (Cam Morris 46 and John Trowbridge 44 not out).
The individual highlight of C-Grade cricket on Saturday was a maiden century by Nannup's Troy Rasmussen at Cowaramup.
Rasmussen chanced his eye and hit 105 off 87 balls as Nannup notched 7-226 off 40 overs before dismissing the Bulls for 147 on their home deck (Ben Kirkham 71).
There was a thriller at Bovell Park when Vasse were bowled out for 196 by YOBS Academy, who came agonisingly close in their chase by scoring 9-194 when the overs ran out, just 2 runs shy of a tie.
Daniel Zecca (43) and Max Walsh (62) were the respective top scorers.
In the remaining C-Grade game at Churchill Park Yallingup-Oddbods hit 118 against St Marys, who won the game emphatically by seven wickets thanks to Matt Snaddon's knock of 60.
