Margaret River surfers have taken home National Titles for WA in the Rip Curl Grom Search Final at Woonona Beach in New South Wales.
The fun beach breaks were ripped into by the country’s best super grommets in three separate age divisions.
Finn Cox ensured a trophy would be making it’s way back to WA by claiming the 16 Boys division.
Cox kept building the wave count throughout the intense final with Jamie Thomson, with Cox catching a giant 12 waves to Thomson’s two. The tactic paid off for the young gun as he mustered up a notable 13.27 two-wave heat total to gain the upper hand and take the win.
Fellow Margaret Riverian Willow Hardy showed that she could be a future threat in years to come, winning the U12 Girls final.
Hardy performed a handful of impressive forehand snaps in the final heat to triumph with a 12.33 two-wave heat total ahead of Quincy Symonds from Tweed Heads. The gritty win was well deserved in the unfamiliar beach breaks far from home.
The winners now take their surf moves internationally to the World Groms Search in Puerto Rico.
