As the fire emergency continues to threaten lives and homes in the South West of WA, locals and business owners have been quick to show their support for firefighters and volunteers.
From cafes handing out free coffees and breakfast to exhausted volunteers and evacuated residents, to fellow South West people offering to protect animals, vehicles and belongings, the spirit of community is strong.
Richard Moroney from Margaret River Volunteer Fire & Rescue awoke this morning after battling the blaze alongside local volunteer brigades, DFES and DPAW officers to find a generous gift on his doorstep.
"Whoever you are, you are a magnificent human, what an absolutely beautiful thing to do," he said.
"There is going to be a tough day ahead for all of our fire and emergency services and all the support crews that make this happen.
"If you know a firey, an ambo officer, an SES member, somebody from DBCA, or a boatie from marine rescue, then pay it forward..."
Bridget Robinson from Cowaramup cafe Two Cracks Coffee said she felt blessed to live in a region that showed such passionate support for volunteers.
"There's so many ways you wish you can help in times like these, we are so lucky everyone in Margaret River really bands together to protect the beautiful land we call home," she said.
"If something as small as giving out free coffees helps the people sacrificing everything to be on the front line, then Two Cracks Coffee has their back 365 days a year.
"We are so grateful, on behalf of all the people who can't be there on the front line."
The Sea Garden Cafe in Prevelly sits in the centre of the Margaret River region devastated by bushfire a decade ago, and with the current warning zone edging towards neighbouring Gnarabup, owners Grant and Kellie Tigchelaar did not hesitate to step up.
"It was a very easy decision for us to volunteer food and coffee, being in a location that was devastated by fires 10 years ago," said Kellie.
"This community has supported us and we will always do what we can to step up when necessary."
