EVER wondered what kind of antics Miley Cyrus gets up to at a private party? Just ask West Australian sisters Skyye and Lori Graham.
The pair know first-hand how Miley Cyrus behaves after partying with the international superstar well into Friday morning at the Hyatt Regency Perth.
Cyrus ended the Australian leg of her Bangerz Tour in Perth on Thursday night, which Lori and Skyye watched from the side of the stage before heading to an intimate private party for the musician and her crew.
To set the scene, there were a maximum of 30 people who were welcoming and happy inside an intimate lounge-bar like venue. It was dark, there was what seemed like an endless supply of alcohol, shots of alcohol were being taken, hip hop music was played, a DJ did a set, there was plenty of dancing – including twerking – and when Lori handed the star her drink, it was a vodka.
“We just went back to the hotel and drunk there,” Lori said.
Skyye, who is moving to Esperance next week, and Perth's Lori said they spent about four hours with Cyrus and believed that apart from themselves, there was only one other who wasn't officially part of the Bangerz Tour or knew the star personally.
While many people would assume a private Miley Cyrus party would be over-the-top, controversial and raunchy given her recent antics, that couldn’t be further from the truth, Lori and Skyye said.
The pair drank alcohol, danced, chatted, posed for photos and mingled with Cyrus or her crew members from about 11.30pm on Thursday until the star left the party about 4am.
But what was the controversial star really like?
She was apparently laid back and just trying to catch up with everybody, dancing, having fun and posing for photos with her crew.
“She was real casual,” Skyye said.
“She was just wondering around mingling and talking with everyone and dancing, it was their last night together before going to different places,” Lori said.
“She was cool she wasn’t stand offish. She was open with us hanging out with her.
“It wasn’t like she was famous. She just blended, it was us that had to calm down.”
Skyye, 18, is pretty excited to have been able to hang out with Cyrus, whom she described as “even better than amazing”. What topped the night for her was when one of Cyrus’ crew members suggested the pair take a photo together – a souvenir the teen now has of the time she hung out with the star.
Lori’s evidence on the other hand isn’t quite as obvious. In one of Cyrus’ photographs uploaded to her Instagram account from that night, Lori can be seen with the blonde hair and tattoos sitting at a table in the background.
No matter what the pair say they feel lucky to have been able to have been a part of it and never once acted like "groupies" or used their phones because they didn’t want to take anything for granted.
So how does a couple of average West Australian residents end up partying with an international musican one may ask? It seems the saying ‘it’s who you know, not what you know’ really is true.
Lori and Skyye are originally from New Zealand and while living there, Lori was part of a hip-hop dance crew. It was through her involvement in the dance scene she connected with some American dancers she looked up to – and a couple of them ended up being part of Cyrus’ Bangerz Tour dance crew. Two of them even wore t-shirts on stage during the concert which Lori had made.
Through that connection, Lori and Skyye say they pretty much were given an all access pass during and after the concert.
