BACKPACKS are on, lunches are prepared and oversized uniforms have been purchased ready to grow into for the return to school for 2015.
With new teachers, students and technology abounding at each school, some of the biggest changes you will see over 2015 will be the adjustment of Year 7 students to the high schools in the community, the use of Ipads and the improved infrastructure and facilities provided for students.
Margaret River Primary School is looking forward to a period of consolidation after experiencing three years of change, with Year 7 students transitioning to high school, the Australian Curriculum being implemented, the school achieving Independent Public School status and also adjusting to the demands of the student-centred model of funding.
“Students should immediately look forward to being back with their old friends in new surroundings,” Principal Sinan Kerimofski said.
“They are likely to be in new classrooms with new teachers who look forward to presenting exciting programs designed to promote learning and tap into the students' creative ideas.”
Margaret River Montessori School is very excited to commence school after a record breaking attendance at their first busy bee for the year.
“Based on the successful attainment of grant funding from SGIO last year we will be proceeding with the construction of an environmentally sustainable boardwalk in our wetland,” Principal Lisa Fenton said.
“The children will also be involved in restorative planting, designing, and planning the locations of educational signage about the native flora and fauna that make their homes in the wetland.”
After achieving the highest median ATAR score for South West schools in the 2014 as well as finding a place in the top 50 highest scoring schools in the state, Margaret River Senior High School is ready to maintain their commitment to education this year.
With 16 new teachers and 870 new enrolments, it’s sure to be a big year for MRSHS.
