Local music maestro, songwriter and producer Noah Shilkin will take to the stage at Fremantle’s Newport Hotel this week as part of the pub’s hugely popular Newport Record Club series.
Performers from around the state form supergroups to perform classic albums in their entirety for fans.
Shilkin has formed a band - Not Quite Dwight – for the purpose of paying tribute to famed musician Elton John and alongside fellow musos Ben Vanderwal, Steve Hensby, Paul Bodlovich, Harry Mitchell, Dylan Hooper and Nikki Dagostino will knock out John’s acclaimed 1973 album, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.
While most often found in his Margaret River studio, Shilkin said the chance to perform in front of an audience helped him avoid becoming a “studio mushroom.”
The Newport Record Club’s Goodbye Yellow Brick Road starts at 7.30pm on Thursday September 1. For more information on the series visit www.facebook.com/thenewportrecordclub
