Next week, young people from all over the Shire will converge on the Margaret River youth precinct for the annual Margaret River SAM (Skate, Art and Music) festival.
The event is hosted by the AMR Shire and provides a wide range of activities for teens and children, all free of charge.
As well as skating competition, kids can take part in tie dying, mural painting, bouncy castles, skate park first aid workshops, live youth bands and art activities.
Food vans and a sausage sizzle will be onsite throughout the day.
Shire Community Development trainee Georgie Wilkie, who will complete her year’s internship in January, said the festival was a great way to start the summer holidays in a family friendly environment.
“Youth constitute a large portion of our population and make valuable contributions to our community.
"This event gives our youth an opportunity to exhibit their many talents and celebrate the value they bring to Margaret River,” she said.
“It’s also a great chance for young people to get involved in their community by helping plan and bring together an event like this, showcasing and celebrating the skills of their peers.”
The event is drug and alcohol free and promotes an inclusive environment for all abilities.
The MR SAM festival will take place at the Margaret River Youth Precinct on Wallcliffe Road from 11am to 4pm on Saturday December 10.
