This Friday January 26 a number of community events will be held in the Augusta Margaret River region to celebrate Australia Day.
In Cowaramup, the hugely popular Cowaramup Lions Club Australia Day breakfast will see the community gather in Pioneer Park from 7.15am until 9.30am to welcome the region’s newest Australian citizens at the annual ceremony.
The recipient of the 2018 Colin Duggan Award will also be announced at the breakfast, which is available by donation to the Lions.
From 8.00am the Margaret River Lions Club will host their equally-popular Australia Day celebrations at Gloucester Park on Wallcliffe Road.
Delicious cooked breakfasts ($5 per person, children under 12 free), entertainment and a citizenship ceremony will be on offer until 10.30am.
In Augusta, veterans’ advocate Graham Edwards and Steve Thomas MLC will be welcomed as guest speakers at the Augusta Community Resource Centre on Allnutt Terrace from 11.00am, where a light lunch will be provided.
