Plans are underway for the region's newest sporting event, the Trans Cape Swim Run, which will be held on Sunday March 8, 2020 promising a unique experience around Cape Naturaliste.
Trans Cape Swim Run is a new type of endurance event where participants - in pairs - alternate between running and swimming.
The course will start from Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse and finish at the Dunsborough Bay Yacht Club, taking in trails, beaches, rocks and paths along the way.
At the end of the day, participants would have run approximately 20 kilometres and swum 4.5km.
Swim Run started in Sweden in 2002 and has gained worldwide popularity.
The essence of the sport is that participants compete with a teammate and must never be more than 10 metres apart.
It is also transition-free, so athletes swim in their shoes and run with a flotation device strapped to their leg.
Dunsborough resident Garry Dagg has been running the trails of the Meelup Regional Park for many years and is looking forward to the event in March.
"Swim Run is a really special way to experience the beauty this area has to offer and from a vantage point that not many people get", he said.
