Margaret River Men's Hockey won the Division 3 level of the 2021 Western Australian Country Hockey Championships held at the Perth Hockey Stadium over the long weekend.
The first game began well with a resounding 9-2 win over Roe Districts.
The next game was against Esperance who typically field a very competitive team, however the Margaret River team outplayed them to record their second win of the carnival with a 6-1 win.
Sunday's match was against Eastern Districts and a very convincing 11-1 win to Margaret River.
Finishing on top of our Division saw Margaret River advancing straight into Monday's Grand Final match which was against Esperance.
Tyron Bradshaw scored a great rebound goal from a penalty corner in the first quarter to give us the early break. Maintaining control, another goal was added in the second quarter when Matt Rowe slammed home a well worked field goal to take us into the half-time break with a 2-0 lead.
Margaret River maintained its solid defensive structure and continued to attack the goals. Reward came when Archie Currell finished off a strong passage of play to extend the lead to 3-0. The fourth quarter didn't see any change to the score with Margaret River taking out the Division 3 Grand Final.
David Reid won the top goal scorer award for the carnival with a total of 11 goals.
