Nature Conservation Margaret River Region (NCMRR) will hold a fundraising cocktail party co-hosted by celebrated winemaker Vanya Cullen, with great food, wine and prizes on offer.
Guests will enjoy a spring tasting menu with matching wines, great music by Burke & Wise, and the thrill of a charity auction.
Among the items to go under the hammer are a scenic helicopter flight, luxury accommodation in the region, premium wine from some of the best local producers, dining experiences at the Beerfarm and Cowaramup Brewing Company, and other great prizes.
Tickets and donations are fully tax deductible and all proceeds go to collaborative coastal and land care programs in and around Cowaramup Bay.
An alliance of groups including the Friends of Cowaramup Bay, Cowaramup Bay Boardriders, Cowaramup Primary School, Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, Shire of Augusta-Margaret River and NCMRR has been undertaking extensive foreshore replanting and rehabilitation throughout Cowaramup Bay in a bid to restore the natural ecosystem, remove weeds, slow erosion and revegetate with native species.
"But there is still much more work to do, and the money raised at our fundraising cocktail party generously hosted by Vanya Cullen will go towards restoring and protecting this treasured part of our coastline," Nature Conservation Margaret River Region CEO Pip Close said.
"Come along and join us for a fabulous evening of food, wine and music, and help a great cause at the same time."
NCMRR environmental education officer Tracey Muir said Cowaramup Bay is such a popular spot but is in "danger of being loved to death".
"This fundraiser is a chance to raise the money we need for more on-ground conservation work and to buy more plants, expand the area we're protecting, and organise more coastal care days with the students from Cowaramup Primary School," she said.
Ms Cullen said Cullen Wines was "delighted to be the venue for the fundraiser and help care for Gracetown and the Cowaramup Bay area".
"It's so good to care for this special, sacred place. On the night we'll also be launching our spring menu with taste bites and biodynamic wine," she said.
The Nature Conservation Margaret River Region Cocktail Party is on Saturday August 28 from 5pm to 7pm at Cullen Wines, 4323 Caves Rd Wilyabrup. Tickets ($50pp) can be booked at www.natureconservation.org.au/news-events/#upcoming-events with 100 percent of proceeds going towards coastal conservation.
