The Margaret River Theatre Group (MRTG) is back with their ninth pantomime production, and the group is calling for local performers of all experience levels to try out for a chance to join the fun.
"The show is called Goldilocks and the Three Bears the Pantomime," explained director and MRTG vice president Rebecca Simmonds.
"It's about a haphazard circus run by Dame Gertie and her son Silly Billy, and the owner of the rival circus tries to destroy theirs. The three bears have to save the day!"
The group has been producing the stage shows, which feature song and dance, comedy and familiar fairtytale storylines, for over a decade.
"Pantomimes are amazing because the whole family can get involved," said Simmonds. "They're fun for anyone aged zero to 100, there's a lot of audience participation, over-the-top silly characters, and room for local jokes and references."
After each sellout show at Margaret River HEART, the group receives a flood of interest from people keen to be involved in the fun, on stage and behind the scenes.
"People can tell from just sitting in the audience that while there's a huge amount of work and commitment involved from everyone onstage and behind the scenes, there are also fantastic benefits, like learning how shows like these get off the ground, and what it takes to bring them to the stage."
Two audition sessions have been set for next week, both held at the MRTG HQ building on Station Road.
"Anyone over the age of 10, we would love to see them at auditions," said Simmonds.
"I'm particularly interested in anyone that may have some special hidden circus or acrobatic talents.
"Auditions are open to anyone who wants to have a crack, and you don't need to have any acting experience."
