SOUTHBOUND festivalgoers will enjoy new site attractions this weekend with a forecasted drop in temperature expected to be a relief after the South West’s heatwave experienced earlier this week.

Communications manager Janelle Morse of Sunset Events said Southbound’s site in Busselton will remain the same as last year but with new attractions.
“The site layout and flow worked very well so as a resold, we will be keeping a very similar layout for Southbound 2013,” she said.
“We do have some great new additions to the site this year, such as the Cruiser House Party – literally, a house being set up on the festival grounds – and the return of some old favourites, such as the Strongbow Boat and the air conditioned HBF Health Haven.”
Asked whether she expected the festival to be extremely hot, Janelle said, “The forecast is looking absolutely perfect and given the recent heat waves that have hit Perth and most of the South West, the forecast of 28 and 32 for Friday and Saturday respectively, along with a sea breeze, will be a very welcome change.”
However, there will be air conditioned HBF activation, misting fans and plenty of water points around the festival site to keep people cool.
Janelle said Southbound preparation took “a lot of man hours, late nights and lots of organisation”.
“But it's definitely all worth it and rewarding in the end,” she said.
“There are many [drawcards] this year – the line up is fantastic.”
"We are getting reports in from our sister festival, Falls, over east and acts like SBTRKT, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Hives, Flume and San Cisco have been drawing big numbers.”
Margaret River resident Nick Teske said he was excited to have international and local acts playing in a beautiful part of Western Australia.
“With the current weather forecasted, it’s shaping up to be an amazing start to the weekend,” he said.
Southbound is held this Friday and Saturday at Sir Stewart Bovell Park, Busselton.
