A WINE tour company based in Margaret River has been nominated as a finalist in the 2013 Tourism WA awards for the third year in a row.
Top Drop Tours, owned and operated by Margaret River couple Kerry and Chris O’Hare, is the only Margaret River business to be nominated in the tour and transport category in each of the last three years.
In 2011 they were awarded the bronze medal in the category, the silver in 2012 and in 2013 they are hoping for the grand prize.
Owner Chris O’Hare said their intimate tour group sizes, focus on the wines they love and close working relationships with wineries sets their tours apart from other operators in the region.
“We just try to reflect the best of the wine region, and we work really tightly with some very, very good wineries,” Mr O’Hare said.
“My wife and I really love good wine, and we just want to share that with our customers.”
Mr O’Hare said the best wine may come from the well established, internationally renowned wineries and it may come from the little one next door that makes great, unknown wine.
He said their small tour groups give them access to the smaller wineries which offer a more personal, intimate experience for their customers.
“When you go somewhere like those where the owner himself pours the tasters it’s a special experience for visitors.”
“We aim to be a conduit between tourism and wine.”
