THE Augusta-Margaret River community has crowned its first Volunteers of the Year for their expert skills in time management.
Mary Elton and Bryan Adams won enough admiring votes from the public to take home the awards for volunteer of the year and youth volunteer of the year respectively.
Ms Elton was nominated for her dedication shown in community emergency preparedness.
Recruited as a volunteer facilitator in the Shire and Red Cross' Get Ready project, Ms Elton also volunteers weekly at the Uniting Church English Club, co-ordinates the Uniting Church Inter generational Playgroup and is an Australian Red Cross volunteer, all while working at the Cowaramup Primary School.
Mr Adams was recognised as a great role model to young adults, as he is busy with two jobs yet still makes time to attend weekly meetings for the Youth Advisory Council and support YAC events with a positive and driving attitude.
The new annual volunteer awards were presented as part of the Shire of Augusta Margaret River's Thank a Volunteer Day last Thursday.
