A crime and Road safety information night was held at Collie PCYC last Thursday.
The night was hosted by; Collie Police, St John’s Ambulance, Department of Fire and Emergency Services, Collie Hospital and the Collie PCYC, and was sponsored by Harris River Winery.
The presentation ran through vital safety advice, aimed mainly at young drivers on country roads.
Sargent Dion Jackson from Collie Police gave a detailed presentation and talk on basic road safety, including the effects alcohol and speed can have on young drivers.
Shaun Davies a paramedic with St John’s ambulance gave a presentation on the role of St John’s in road safety and dealing with trauma in road accidents.
Mr Davies also showed a graphic video of road trauma accidents, in the hope that young drivers may think twice before doing something on the roads that may endanger themselves and other.
The group hope to hold future events focusing on road safety for youths.
