The Margaret River Lawn Bowling season was officially opened on Sunday by the Hon. Barry House MLC, who generously sponsors the event as the club's patron.
Despite the chilly and windy conditions a large number of competitors took to the greens to play a mixed triples event of three games. Yvonne Coffey skippered her team mates, Domenic Alfonsi and Rob Scott to victory.
Colin Maylor, Paul Campbell and Shirley Coffey claimed second place with Jeff Eascott, Fred Murton and Julie Arthur finishing third.
An open day will he held on Sunday October 23 from 1pm for community members who would like to 'have a go' at bowling. Club members will be on hand to offer tips and bowls can be supplied. Flat soled shoes are required to bowl.
Teams are urged to get their nominations in for the Corporate Bowls Season starting Wednesday November 9. Groups thinking of a social evening out with friends are encouraged to form a team.
