On Friday, 19 October fifty Margaret River Senior High School Year 8 Asian Languages students and their visiting Musi Banyuasin Regency guest students and teachers travelled north to Murdoch University to take part in Culture Infusion Workshops.
As part of the workshops, students participated in Gamelan and Angklung musical instruments lessons, and enjoyed a fun campus tour run by Murdoch University staff.
MRSHS International Relationship Coordinator Angela McCoy said the group spent half the day in workshops before continuing to the Osh5One restaurant for a cooking lesson.
“The students made spring rolls and fried wonton, and this was followed by a delicious Indonesian Nasi Tumpeng buffet lunch,” Ms McCoy said.
“I think it was a great experience and a lot of fun. I learnt heaps of new things like making the wontons and learning many things about the university,” said one MRSHS student.
“I loved everything that we did at the university especially the campus tour and loved the buffet lunch and cooking lesson.”
While the Margaret River SHS students and teachers headed back to Margaret River, their guest students and teachers stayed a night in Perth before they continued their journey back to Indonesia.
