Watoto singers delight Margaret River audiences

The Watoto Uganda children's choir again brought their colourful, energetic and inspirational message to Margaret River on the weekend at Surfside Church during their 5 month tour of Australia.

"Watoto is an organisation that rescues the most vulnerable and underprivileged children and women from the poorest and most desperate parts of Uganda," explained Surfside Pastor Jack Hough.

"A nation which have been racked by decades of war, disease, poverty and millions living in desperate circumstances.

This generous gift is a demonstration of the power of love that can make a huge difference in our hurting world.

"However despite all this, there is a Watoto village in Kampala, that has rescued over 5,000 orphaned children, raised them in a home environment and provided food and an education to rebuild their lives and ultimately the nation.

At the Margaret River performance, six year old Katie told her story of being found as a baby abandoned by the roadside, taken to the local hospital, then to the police station who brought her to the Watoto village where she has been loved and cared for ever since.

"We would like to thank the community of Margaret River for their generosity in donating a total of $1,672 which we will send directly to the Watoto orphanages in Uganda," said Pastor Hough.

"This generous gift is a demonstration of the power of love that can make a huge difference in our hurting world."
