Renowned Western Australian author Richard Rossiter will launch his latest book, Refuge, at the Margaret River Bookshop this weekend.
Officially launched in style by Dr Carmen Lawrence, Refuge is a is a tender exploration of love and friendship, families, race relations, the consolations of the natural world and what it means to belong.
The story behind the story is Rossiter's 50 year connection to place; Juniper Road, the Juniper family, the landscape, the coast, the people.
At the Margaret River launch Rossiter will explore the real and imagined elements of his artist journey.
Respected Margaret River artist Caroline Juniper captures the spirit of the place with her artwork which graces the cover of the novel.
Creating the cover was a trip down memory lane for Juniper.
"I was taken back to my childhood down Juniper Road, at the coast, gathering abalone from the rocks and keeping my father company while he fished nearby for herring," she said. "My father's spirit is here, always and forever."
Refuge will be launched at the Margaret River Bookshop on Sunday July 14 from 4.30pm.
The event is free, bookings via email@example.com or phone 08 9757 3331.
