Telstra regional general manager Boyd Brown said the two 5G sites were located at both the Port Geographe base station (Port Geographe Marina) and the Busselton exchange site with the new service providing 5G coverage across Busselton's CBD.
Mr Brown said the introduction of 5G capacity, and the ongoing rollout, would benefit those locals equipped with a 5G device being used in the areas where 5G has been deployed.
He said it will also benefit those with 4G devices in the vicinity of new 5G coverage. The 5G technology will greatly increase capacity on 4G network improving the overall experience.
"Telstra has always been committed to connecting people in regional WA and ensuring they are amongst the first to experience the latest mobile technology," he said.
"Telstra has been leading the way in pioneering 5G technology with a number of world and Australian firsts - and now making 5G technology available to Western Australian communities.
"Now with the first 5G sites on air, locals in Busselton have a chance to be part of that cutting edge. Further to this, as we roll out this new 5G technology, it will also improve 4G capacity and speeds.
"We now have commenced the rollout of 5G in key cities around Australia.

Busselton's Chamber of Commerce and Industry chief executive officer Michael Smart said the introduction of 5G technology was a fantastic opportunity for local businesses.
